ICE CREAM DRIVES ME CRAZY

What do you think when you hear the word ‘ice cream’? Yes, it is cold, sweet, fresh, and yummy. I believe most of you like it, right? When talking about ice cream, maybe your saliva will come out. This dish is usually used for dessert. After you eat your main meal, you usually want something as a dessert. Ice cream is a great choice because when its taste melts in your mouth, you will feel happy. The sweetness and freshness give another sensation; substitute the taste of the meal before. What do you know about this dish? Well, I will tell you a little bit about this. Of course, there are a lot of things I still do not know but I hope it can help you to know more about this.
Maybe you are curious about the history of ice cream. Actually the history of ice cream are still unproven stories. There are some stories about the invention of ice cream but the most popular is in Charles I of England era, I think. It is said that hundreds years ago, Charles I of England held a state banquet for his friends and family. There would be a new dish that King Charles wanted to introduce. After much preparation, the King's French chef named DeMirco, had made the new dish. It was cold and similar to fallen snow but was much creamier and sweeter than any other dessert. Charles ordered the chef not to tell the recipe of the cream. In 1649, Charles was decapitated because his people did not like him. By that time, the secret of the cream became a secret no more. The chef had not kept his promise. Actually there are some other stories about that. Well, in spite of many stories about ice cream’s history, there is no historical evidence to support these stories. Whoever the inventor of ice cream, the most important thing is ice cream becomes a great dish that people love worldwide.
The great taste in ice cream is made by some ingredients. Ice cream needs milk fat, milk solids-not-fat, sweeteners, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and water. All of them have their own measurements to produce a good ice cream. Those ingredients are formulated and calculated carefully, and then they have to pass some steps to produce ice cream. All of ingredients have their own percentages measured by weight. However, when frozen, about one-half of the volume is air. Since air does not contribute weight, we usually talk about the composition of ice cream on a weight basis. The formulations depend on the ingredients used to supply the components, and it is then necessary to do a mix calculation to determine the required ingredients based on the formula. The ingredients to supply the desired components are chosen on the basis of availability, cost, and desired quality.
I believe that all of you have your own favourite flavour. Well, flavours in ice cream are important to make it tastier. I will tell about some popular flavours such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Chocolate is not only used for ice cream flavours but also others. It is made by cacao bean, the fruit of the cacao tree, which grows in tropical regions such as Mexico, Central America, etc. Vanilla is also one of favourite flavours of ice cream. It is a very important ice cream ingredient, not only in vanilla ice cream but also in many other flavours. It is used as a flavour enhancer, e.g. chocolate is improved by presence of vanilla. Strawberry is one of fruits used for ice cream flavours. Other fruits are also used for flavouring but strawberry is the most popular. The advantages of processed fruits are fruits will not freeze in ice cream, microbial safety, and convenience. There is something that you should know about your favourite flavour. Your favourite flavour can reveal your personality. Chocolate is lively, creative, charming, and enthusiastic. You tend to be extroverted, easily influenced, and intuitive. You are usually the centre of attention in social situations and you enjoy intimate relationships. Vanilla is colourful, impulsive, and a risk taker. You have high expectations of yourself and set high goals. People are drawn to your friendly and out-going personality, and you have particularly strong relationships with your family. Strawberry is shy, sceptical, detail-oriented, opinionated, introverted and self critical. You tend to be easily made to feel guilty and pessimistic but actually you are low self-esteem.
We also need to talk about the advantages of ice cream for us. Maybe you think that ice cream is not healthy and makes you fat. Actually ice cream has some advantages to your health. Ice cream contains of calcium and calcium does much more than just strengthens bones. It can also prevent kidney stones, increase bone strength, lower risk of stroke, lower blood pressure, decrease risk of heart disease, ease menstrual pains, strengthen your teeth, keep the weight off. The last point is it helps you lose and maintain weight. Calcium is good for pushing fat into the bloodstream where it is more likely to be burned up. You can get that extra boost of calcium from products such as yogurt, cheese and milk. However, if you want to, you can do it by eating ice cream every day as well. You can enjoy your ice cream every day as long as you know what you have to do. First, you have to know the right time to eat ice cream. If you are planning on making ice cream a daily treat, try eating it either in the morning or early afternoon while you are active. Your metabolism is working at its best in the daytime. If you can only eat it in the evening, try eating it after a good workout. Second, you have to know what you should avoid when eating ice cream. You should not eat it too much, even though the benefits of calcium are great, overindulging is never healthy. It is better to eat ice cream 125 calories or higher per serving. Make sure you do not eat it more than 2 to 3 servings per week. You can always get your enjoyment from eating ice cream but remember to not stop exercising. There are also other treats that you can use as a substitution of ice cream such as low-calorie pudding, fruit, and yogurt. As long as you are eating your ice cream the right way, you will be fine.
Ice cream is a very enjoyable dish. Many people around the world love it very much. We should appreciate the inventor because we can taste a great dish like this. Nowadays, ice cream is developing into many various recipes. I think people will remain to find some variations to make ice cream greater and greater. So, what are you waiting for? Just let ice cream drives you crazy.

The Good Values of Indonesian Dances (A view of Indonesia Traditional Dances)

A. Introduction
Indonesia, as a developed country, does not only grow because of history but also from its culture. Consisting of many islands from east to west and tribes who live in it, Indonesia has many various cultures. These cultures can be described in several applications. They are songs, ritual activities, ritual ceremonies or dances. They all bring many good values that can control people life. Not only control them, living these values make one tribe or society can life peacefully and harmony (cf. Gluckman, Ron., Blood, Sweat and Cheers, http// Pasola Ceremony Sumba – East Indonesia, mht, 27 February 21010)
This paper wants to pay attention to the several dances of Indonesia people that live in several areas which bring some good values. The purpose is to make people realizing that each dance, actually, brings many good values. Besides that, by showing some good values people aware that there is no reason to start the fight, war or battle in our Loved Indonesia Country. We have same ideas and values in our cultures so that we can keep peace live on us.


B. Content
1. Knowing Background Some Traditional Dances
From my six articles that I have submitted we can see clearly the background of those dances. Those traditional dances have different background. Knowing the background traditional dances is very important because we can know what the values which are delivered. We can see that, for examples in Broom Stick Dance and Battle Rice Cake.
Broom Stick Dance is performed to remember the efforts of Malukus to get their liberation. People of Maluku fight against colonialism thought and colonialism action. It is also called the war dance (cf. Roesda, Broom Dance History Stick Morella, www.google.com, ‘Broom Dance’, 13/02/2010) Meanwhile The Battle Rice Cake is performed to commemorate entering Islam and Hindu in Lombok. This is also called traditional and religious dance. From the delivered intentions, we know that this dance is performed by Muslims and Hindus. We can guess also the meaning that delivered by this dance, which is bring the tolerance and harmonization values. This dance is usually performed to arouse the spirit of work together between Muslims and Hindus. More than it, this dance also conveys human’s will to live side by side peacefully (cf. Nugraha, Panca., The Battle of Rice Cakes, The Jakarta Post, page 22).
There are several traditional dances too that deliver same values to us. They are Pasola Ceremony (in West Sumba), Sang Hyang Dance (in Bali) and The Kabasaran Dance (in North Sulawesi). All of these dances convey some good values that have to be supported by Indonesian people. So, there is no reason to leave behind all the values that are brought by our culture dances. We have to care all our traditional cultures.


2. Knowing The Purposes and Values
Giving purposes are same with giving many meanings and values for one traditional dance. It also means we want to make our life better than before. We bring and deliver these meanings to all people. We deliver that we want to live hand in hand with others by keeping our culture. The spectators can understand the values only by noticing the purposes of one dance. Many traditional dances are performed with one or two purposes. There are some purposes that brought by one dance, for instance independence, freedom or hopping guidance and protecting from God.
These purposes convey to us the will of people at that time. If one tribe in the bad situation, like suffers from disease or disaster, people need protection and guidance from god. So, to get their intention they (one tribe) do one or two ritual ceremonies to raise the god’s generosity to protect them from disease or disaster. They also do some ritual ceremonies to look after their plants, like rice or corn from harvest failed. It deals with one tribe life basic needs and its prosperity.
What I have mentioned above is related to the values of life that deserve to fight. The freedom, independence and protection are the purposes that usually showed by one traditional dance. Those purposes contain some worth values that control people life. Keeping harmonization, keeping togetherness and keeping the union are some values that also offered by one traditional dance. We have to preserve all of our traditional dances so that we still find all the Indonesian people live in their ancestor dreams (the values of traditional ceremonies). Our duty is to make these dreams become true.


3. What Government Should Do?
What government should do today to preserve and develop our traditional dances; it is a nice statement to answer. Protecting our culture is very important to do. It is not only to keep its values but also to keep our traditional dances still exist. In globalization era not only our markets are attacked by abroad product but our cultures are in danger too.
So, we as Indonesian people need to look after our culture from distinction (cf. Sahyang Dance – the dance of spirit., http//www.balivision. com/Article_Resources/Sanghyang, asp). But more than it, our government has to give its hand to guard our culture and its values. For Indonesian people, all these purposes and values that are offered by traditional dances are the way to live harmony. We know when we live in one area we do not only live with same person, religion or culture in purpose but also we live to keep them becoming true. We have to believe all traditional dances bring good values. What we have to do is to make it live.




C. Conclusion
All of our traditional dances are good. They contain our ancestors will. We have to look after it. They, our ancestors, have learned in their ages to make and to produce one well-society. All the dances that created by them delivering their will. So, it is our job, our duty and our task as their grandsons and granddaughters to live it for good.

The Bloodless killer…. Cigarettes…!!

Cigarettes are popular things in the world. They are light and small items shaped cylinder which consist of tobacco, cloves, and other substances. Cigarettes are legal products so they can be easily found in every store wherever we are. Because of that, cigarettes become common things in our life. They can be easily reached even by kids. That is why, nowadays, smokers are not only adults but also young people and women. There are no clear regulations and actions from the government about the smokers. The government only has the regulations for the cigarettes producers. That is the cigarettes producers have to attach the warning labels of the effect of smoking cigarettes in every cigarette pack they produced. Even though the cigarettes producers have attached the warning labels in every cigarette pack, people still do not pay attention more on the warning label and even tend to ignore it.
As we know, cigarettes contain of many deadly and dangerous chemical substances. The substances can be divided into two; carcinogens and irritant toxins. The substances that include in carcinogens are Tar, Arsenic (deadly poison), Cadmium and Nickel, Vinyl Chloride that is causing dizziness and tiredness, Creosote, Formaldehyde (preservative substance), and Polonium 210 that is causing leukemia, stomach ulcers and liver cancer. Meanwhile, the substances that include in irritant toxins are Nicotine, Ammonia (pungent colorless gas), Acetone (varnish remover), Acrolein, Hydrogen Cyanide (rat poison), CO, and Toluene (a component of nail varnish and paint thinners that causes tiredness, weakness, and memory lost.
Even though containing a lot of dreadful chemical substances, some of them bring several advantages. The advantages of smoking from the health side are relaxing breathing. The smokers consider that smoke is oxygen for them, that is why they think that smoking is one way to relax breathing. One of the substances that bring the benefits for the smokers is nicotine. Although it cannot help them solve their problems but it helps them to reduce stress, it can calm them down, and it also can break of boredom because it is very enjoyable. Cigarettes also can be useful for the nature. For example, if you throw away the butts of your cigarettes in the pots or in the garden, the ash will fertilize the ground and the plants. It also economizes your finances to buy fertilizer, doesn’t it?
Besides having several advantages, smoking also has its disadvantages that have to be concerned more. The disadvantages are divided into two; short-term effect and long-term effect. The short-term effects are narrowing the airways of the lungs, and then it makes the heart rate of the smokers beat faster because the supply of oxygen does not suffice the necessity. The further effect is increasing the blood pressure of the smokers. Those effects may influence the smokers’ daily lives. They can disturb the smokers’ relationship with his or her boyfriend or girlfriend. Why is it so? If the smokers have the increasing blood pressure, the smokers will have unstable emotion and that is a risky thing for a relationship. The worst effect is the relationship will end sooner. The other short-term effect is making you run out of money. This effect is also a risky thing for our life. If we run out of money just to buy cigarettes, we will die sooner because we cannot but food to supply our necessity of nutrition anymore. After experiencing the short-term effects but you keep smoking, sooner you will get the long term-effect of smoking. They are lung cancer emphysema, various heart and respiratory diseases and even death. Smoking can also lose baby weight if the pregnant woman is smoking. Besides, it also can disturb the growth of the baby inside the womb. Smoking activity can be dangerous for the people surrounding us too. The smoke that does not inhaled by the smokers inhaled by the secondhand smokers and it is very harmful for them. They can also get the bad effects of smoking such as bronchitis, asthma, and the other diseases.
Those are the disadvantages of being smokers. They are spooky, aren’t they? Thus, it is better for the smokers to quit smoking and to not smoking and for us who are non-smokers. Quitting smoking brings some benefits. It makes the body become healthier than when we are smoking. If we are smoking, we continuously put in the toxins to our body. If we quit smoking, it means that we stop heaping the toxins to our body. We also do not have to be worried about the spooky diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and other respiratory diseases that may invasive us. If we quit smoking and maintain our bodies’ health with exercise and arrange our diet well, those diseases will not be brave to approach us.
However, for those who, indeed, cannot leave smoking activity, there is good news. There is one thing that can replace cigarette; that is electronic cigarette. Electronic cigarettes are created and recognized by Beijing Health Care Department and China Health Care Society. It is the imitation of cigarettes. If you want to quit smoking, but you find difficulties to do it, you can choose electronic cigarettes as the one way to quit smoking. You can feel the sense of smoking without worrying about the dreadful chemical substances that usually contain in the real cigarettes. It still produces smoke, but the differences between E-cigs and real cigarettes are E-cigs produce no Tar, Carbon Monoxide, ash and odor. Therefore, it can reduce air pollution, and can reduce the addiction of nicotine. Having E-cigs is like having the other electronics tools. There are several tools that support the work of E-cigs. They are the atomizer, battery, and the cartridge which is filled with the liquid form of nicotine. Therefore, you can measure how much nicotine that you want. If you want to reduce the addiction of nicotine, you can decrease the amount of nicotine in every time you smoke E-cigs.
From the facts about cigarettes mentioned above, in conclusion, cigarettes include as one of the bloodless killers in the world. It gives heavenly pleasure but actually it is killing you softly. Therefore, I suggest you to quit smoking right now and start to live healthily. Health is expensive so we have to maintain our health that is still free given by our creator, God.

Female Rock!

What comes to your mind when a word “ROCK” is given to you? Then what comes to your mind when you heard a word “FEMALE”? For the second word, it is easy to imagine what figure that comes to your mind because every day that figure of female can be seen in our daily life. But for the first word, sometimes it is quite difficult to guess the figure about the word “ROCK”. It can be big stone like in a hill or one of music genres. Here, the word “ROCK” refers to the one on music genres. So, if those words are combined as FEMALE ROCK, what kind of things will come to your mind? In here, I will talk about what female rick is and explain about that based on summary of my reading reports that I have done on class.
Since the genre was found, rock music has been dominated by men. Men whom are writing the lyrics, music, and create the image of a band became the icon of rock music. In the middle of 70’s era, more precisely in 1976, men domination of rock music began to change. They have been starting “the competition” with women whom are trying to enter the hard music genre. In 1976, there was a female rock band from Los Angeles, named The Runaways which was led by Joan Jett, appeared in public. They introduced their music with combination of rock elements, such as grunge, heavy metal, rock n roll, and heavy metal for all music listeners. They caught many music listeners attention not only because they were playing rock music, but also the members were all female. Five female played music instruments such as electric guitars, electric bass and drum set, and one as vocalist. Their songs are played in many radio station and they also performed in many countries, such as in US, UK, Japan and Australia.
After The Runaways is appeared in rock music arena, they influenced many female bands to show their existence competed with male rock bands. Let’s say L7, 4 Non Blondes, and Hole are female rock bands which are appeared in 80’s era after the glory of The Runaways began to overcast slowly. They played rock music with many combinations such as grunge, rock n roll, alternative, heavy metal, and pop rock. Their domination are clearly seen when they joined many music festival. Many audiences screamed their named on stage as a sign they want to see those female musicians performed.
The biggest rebellion female rock band era is happened in 90’s era and 2000’s era. Females tried to enter the hard part of music genre. Metal scene is becoming their target to explore their music talents. There was a female metal band named Kittie, which is led by Morgan Landers, appeared in metal music genre. They introduce heavy metal, hardcore, and thrash metal as their identity to the music listeners. Others metal band which are followed Kittie’s dint are also appeared in the rock and metal music arenas. Some of band called Theatre Of Tragedy, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, After Forever, Epica, and Arch Enemy are showing that female can be the incredible front – woman of a band.
What makes those female musicians become famous and being role model for a lot of music listeners? The answers are their music talents, their challenging lifestyle, and their life attitude. Those females rock band that have been mentioned are proof that female not just sing, but also play the music instruments. Female also can be incredible front – woman every time the bands have to do performance on stage. Their talents are shown when they do performance on the stage and while they recorded their own song and their own music. It is like the realizations of women’s independence and emancipation, because they can do what men can do also.
Talking about rock or metal musician’s lifestyle, it cannot be separated with the dangerous and killer things like tattoo and alcohol drink. Both of them are really identical with lifestyle of rock and metal musician. Tattoo is one of art that can support musician’s appearance become more cool, masculine, strong, and tough. When the tattoo is made in female musicians’ skin, the musician will be looked as strong and tough women. The image of strong and tough women will also support their performance on the stage because it can catch the audiences’ attention. Another benefit from the tattoo on the female musician’s skin is that they can be the trendsetter and show their identity to the public. Who will not be interested when you see Mercedes Landers and Morgan Landers from Kittie, Courtney Love from Hole, and Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy whose have marvelous tattoos on their body? Incredible women with incredible tattoos are match enough.
Another dangerous but challenging lifestyle of female rock and metal musician is the alcohol drink such as beer, vodka, and alcohol drink like Jack Daniels, Red Label, and Tequila. It cannot be denied when the musicians have just done great performance or they are gathered with other musicians they will have alcohol drink to celebrate their successful or spend the good time with friends. Since rock and metal music genre are appeared and grown in western culture, the lifestyle of western people is also influencing the musicians’ lifestyle. Moreover, most of the rock and metal musicians come from western culture. No wonder that some part of western culture influence the rock and metal musicians also.
Last but not least, the life attitude is being the most important factor why those female rock musicians are used as role model from their fans. Most of the female rock and metal musicians use “be yourself” philosophy as their life attitude. This is appeared in their lyric characters which are not just talking about crappy love stories. They are also talking about political issues, social life issues, and inner feeling about all events that happened in around them. It proves that women are also quite intelligent and critical about the environment around them, because those kinds of thing can be their inspiration when they are writing a song.
So now, it is time for female to rock. No more discrimination in life, including the music scenes. Female can rock you with their music, their talents, and their inner feeling on their songs. Why don’t you just dropped your under estimate for the female and enjoy their music in your spare time. Because female can rock!

Overpopulation, global warming, and huge demands of energy have made people in the world try to search an alternative energy. Nuclear power comes as a new solution. Why must we choose nuclear power? “Nuclear power is energy produced from controlled (i.e., non-explosive) nuclear reactions” (Wikipedia.com). Nuclear power can produce large amount of energy which is more than enough to supply energy. The purpose is to replace coal and oil with a new generation of nuclear power.
Nuclear power is becoming popular again for alternative energy supply. Nuclear power also can reduce polluting emissions of CO2 and reduce the dependence of coal and oil. Nuclear power has answered the question about an energy crisis that will happen. Nuclear power is more promising than coal or oil. Coal and oil are un-renewable resources. The scientists believe that it is impossible to just depend on coal or oil. Coal and oil produce more CO2 and indirectly increase greenhouse effect. Unlike coal and oil, nuclear power produces less CO2 into environment.
However, many controversies rise up later. First, it is about safety. Safety is vital global issue. A nuclear power accident can stir public fears. Public still have a bad image and memory about nuclear energy. As we know, there are two big accidents of nuclear power. They are Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine and Three Miles Island accident in Pennsylvania. A radioactive cloud spread to accident’s areas and cause panicky situation. These two accidents have sent a big alarm to the world and raised concerns about the safety of nuclear power industry. Public is afraid about this issue. They want more than a safety guarantee. Many environmental organizations are still antinuclear. Minimizing the failure maybe can ease the fear.
In other side, nuclear power is still debatable. It still has controversial problem. The bad history is the main reason. The debate over nuclear power plant has moved to where and how many nuclear power plants will be built. Government’s plan to build a nuclear plant will face public acceptance. Sometimes, the construction will be delayed because of some rejections from community. The majority of public consider nuclear power plants to be unsafe. In this case, government has to be more proactive to socialize the nuclear power, by informing the safety and the benefits of nuclear power technology. The government can develop further discussion with the public. Public opinion is really the only factor which can stop nuclear energy coming into place globally.
Building nuclear plants are also faced with economic side problem. The infrastructures will spent much money. "No nuclear power station anywhere in the world has ever been built on time and on budget with the average reactor costing three times as much and twice as long to build. In India, the country with the most recent experience of nuclear reactor construction, completion costs for the last 10 reactors have, on average, been 300% over budget. In Finland, the construction of a new reactor is already €1.5 billion over budget.” (Greenpeace.org.uk). Based on the facts, the government will think twice about the plan. Of course, the plan to build nuclear power plants in developing countries is not appropriate. A partnership deals maybe can help developing countries to afford new plant or have the infrastructure to meet the energy demand. Later, the location and the amount of nuclear power plant will have an effect in budgeting.
The next controversial problem is from religious side. We can take an example from US’ government. When the government brought a nuclear proposal to Congress, it seemed that the government prepared it intensely. The government would like to make it become a policy. However, there is a rejection from religious side. They believe that is a fool action. The legalization of nuclear power has effects on political tension among US, Russia, and Middle East. The proposal will put us on a dilemmatic situation. In one side, we are loyal citizens but in another side we have a firm belief that it will be dangerous for humankind even killing off the population. It is about a choice. We as a citizen like to loyal to our country or we as religious people reject this proposal.
Public’s fear is also about nuclear weapon while nuclear power is being legalized. Enrichment uranium for nuclear power can make misunderstanding, like a case today between US and Iran. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who has authority on it must control the process of uranium enrichment. By supervising, it can prevent people for using nuclear power for unexpected purposes, such as nuclear weapon. It will be a big threat if nuclear weapon is present. Nuclear weapon maybe causes mass destruction. The world’s concern about Iran is good. Besides, UN Security Council has to do the same with IAEA. UN Security Council must call halt uranium enrichment. It is a preventive way before Iran or other countries make nuclear weapon.
Obama as US’ President has concerned on this threat for a long time. Obama make a nuclear summit which is attended by 47 world leaders. Obama believes that nuclear weapon threat will be a catastrophe for the world, strike at global peace and stability. The nuclear summit is further to response the changing global situation regarding nuclear weapon. This nuclear summit is a strategy to decrease the threat of nuclear weapon and technology from terrorist. The summit can be a momentum for eliminating nuclear weapon program in several countries. Giving some sanctions is needed as a real actions not just a discourse. Public should realize and remember that the program to build nuclear reactor is for a peaceful purpose. The progress is mobilization a unified global action to obey proliferation treaty. With this nuclear summit, Obama was confident that nuclear weapons and materials are properly safeguarded.
Next, we move to nuclear waste or radioactive waste. Nuclear waste problem has not solved yet. Nuclear waste is usually stores in underground nuclear waste storage. The questions come next. Is it safe? or What about the environment? Basically, the majority of radioactive waste is low-level waste. A waste-disposal program is a program to solve the problem of radioactive waste. in this program, nuclear waste keep in storage space and safe in final resting place. The area is chosen far away from the populations. The storage also must be kept from direct contact with people. In addition, nuclear waste is buried thousands of feet below the surface. It means that radioactive waste is safe.
Transporting nuclear waste from the plants to the nuclear waste storage is another controversy. It is caused by the routes that are gone through the nuclear waste. The challenge is on technical way of moving the nuclear waste from one place to other places. We have to keep it safe to the storage. Special transportation way is set to carry the radioactive waste with also enhancing energy security.

Nanny McPhee Can Cathartic Bored

According to Wikipedia, bored is the past tense of the verb to bore; meaning either to cause boredom, or to drill a hole or passage through something. While boredom is an emotional state experienced during periods lacking activity or when individuals are uninterested in the opportunities surrounding them.
It is contrasted to Wikipedia’s definition of bored, bored is the biggest enemy of mine. That is my own opinion of bored. I hate it at the most. The reason is that whenever it approaches me the bad day ever will come to me. Unfortunately, bored is a new best friend of me during this semester. It is because of the bigger number of the task given to me as a student. It is just like I dedicate almost the whole of my life to do the tasks. It really makes me bored. In addition, I also join some other activities outside, which makes me at a loss what to do. Then, I have no time for myself as usual.
I feel bored because I have so many things to think and to do. Most of them are the new things for me. So I was surprised and had no idea at all. I know that it is not good to be long draw out of boredom. If we are in the same condition, it is better to find a way to solve the problem. One way is to think about our hobby. We can do our hobby not only in our spare time, but also whenever we need. Just start to think about our simple hobby. Simple here means that we don’t need to spend so much money and wasting our time more. This simple alternative of our hobby should be fun and entertaining enough.
Those simple hobbies can be listening to music, reading books, making something from second, keeping and caring animals, or watching movies. I am sure that it will make us no longer bored because these are the very simple things which are usually done by most people in the world. At this time, I would like to share one of those alternative hobbies. That is about watching movies. This one is better than the other alternatives I think. I don’t state that the others are the bad choice, but it is just a matter of efficiency and effectiveness. We will need more preparation to do the others than to watch movie. Here are the details of the movie: the movie’s identity and what the story is about.
In my opinion, the best movie to watch is Nanny McPhee. Nanny McPhee is a 2005 fantasy film. This movie is directed by Kirk Jones and Lindsay Doran. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are the producers. The interesting fact is that this movie is written by Emma Thompson, the main character. Another stars are Colin Firth, Thomas Sangster, Eliza Bennett, Jennifer Rae Daykin, Raphael Coleman, Sam Honywood, Holly Gibbs, Hebe Barnes, and Zinnia Barnes. This movie is followed by Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang which is due for release in 2010.
I love this movie very much because it the story is good. The story is about family and education in home. The whole story is about the life of a widower who has seven children. The children are cared by a scullery maid named Evangeline, and Mrs. Blatherwick as the cook. Having no caring from a mother, those seven children are becoming very naughty. They try to get their father’s attention all the time while their father is busy with his job. Then, the family decides to ask assistance from a nanny. Unfortunately, so many nannies don’t want to be there. But then, there is a mysterious nanny came to their house. Everything about her is so strange.
The peculiarities of Nanny McPhee are the panacea of those children’s delinquency. Nanny McPhee can solve this problem by teaching them five lessons by showing some magic actions. The lessons are: to go to bed when they are told (and say please, to get up when they are told, to get dressed when they are told, to listen (and say thank you), and to do as they are told. The most interesting and entertaining part of this movie is on the face of Nanny McPhee. Her face will change every time those children do every single lesson given. The upper and lower warts, the unibrow, the shape of her body, the tooth, and the ear are change.
This story goes to the deeper problem; the family is in a crisis. Lady Adelaide, who is the supporter of the family’s financial, cannot help them anymore. There is only one way out of this problem for the widower that is by marrying a rich woman, named Mrs. Selma Quickly. Later, the marriage is cancelled by the children. It is because they don’t like the woman and that the widower doesn’t love her.
The end of the story is the most touching part. This is ended by a marriage between the widower and the scullery maid. All of them are happy. But then Nanny McPhee goes away from the family. It is just the same as what she always says on staying and going, “When you need me, but do not want me, then I will stay. When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go. It's rather sad, really, but there it is.” Another good thing of this movie is that there are so many moral values in this movie. Those moral values can be summarized as “we need to listen and respect others“. This simple lesson will bring a very big effect in social life.
As what the movie teach us, simple thing can make something bigger than ever. We can cathartic bored by doing something simple. The simple thing is to watch a movie. It can really release us from the boredom, it is very useful, and in addition we still get some new lessons of life.
